Done with the demo for now. Will probably play tomorrow again. Had to quit because the game makes me feel sick, literally. So I won't be playing the game for long hours at a time retail lol.

Wow this game likes vram.

Between 14-15GB of vram utilized thus far on my 7900xt. 1440p max settings with high RT hitting 120fps with room to spare. RIP 4070ti

Didn’t download the demo but what are you looking at?

RE games typically have laughable numbers for VRAM when you adjust settings

Allocated VRAM vs utilized VRAM via afterburner?

Something is wrong with the visuals on PS5. Its so washed out and blurry, that its actually straining my eyes. I also played the demo on PC and that version is much easier on the eyes.

turn on Interlaced rendering (their naming for Checkerboarding), then set it to 1800p and play it on a 4K TV... and then you'll know why it looks like that on PS5.

Hope someone does a RT comparison. I played a few times with and without RT, and the only thing I really notice is a massive FPS loss in the village part.

Awesome.. Excited to try this. Does the demo also exist for Ps4? Have to do a damn system update so waiting for that.. But just in case I'm downloading it on PC to see how it runs with my 1080ti. Hopefully tolerably?

Edit: Yep, there is a Ps4 demo there for me, I'll be able to try it out in the morning, but downloading away! Still going to try to run it on my pc though just to see. Crazy PC demo is twice as big (my internet is awful).

the game seems to fill your vram as much as it can. you have multiple settings for HIGH textures for example. you have High 2GB, High 3GB and so on up to 8GB. to me I don't really see much of a difference between them but I guess that on the highest it will completely fill your card.
the options menu says the setting is meant to be chosen according to your GPU's VRAM, so if you have 4GB you should select that one.
but that's not really possible...
on the 8GB setting it would apparently take up 11.5GB in combination with all my other settings, according to the resource bars in the options menu... I didn't try maybe actually just running with the highest 8GB setting and look what happened... I'll actually do that real quick lol

edit: ok so it ran well for a while, but then crashed on me on max settings on my 3060ti

Dead zone is better than default village but can be lowered. Its acceleration. Will check pc tomorrow to decide which version I want but that 3d audio and dualsense is selling me

I plugged my Dualsense into my PC and most of the features seem to be supported.

My god

I downloaded the demo on the PS5 after finishing it on PC, and it looks like absolute ass

It probably has the worst IQ that I have seen on a PS5 game so far.

Changed to resolution mode, and it still sucks. This is horrible.

Its blurried like hell, and still has artifacts on foliage. Its Horizon Forbiden West all over again.

Played on PC, looked and played excellent. Very fluid and smooth with RT on, 3k resolution ultra wide and max settings. Looks like PS controller button prompts showing up for my Xbox Controller? Whatever.

Played the Demo on the P55 with RT on and Resolution mode. I wasn't too impressed with how it looked on my 4K HDR tv. Lower resolution? and blurrier textures. I liked the Dual Sense Controller but wasn't anything crazy. Game was probably at least 60 on performance mode but again, I didn't like how it looked.

Had my Audeze Maxwell headphones on for both experiences, pretty awesome sounding game for both versions with Dolby and Tempest.

Didn't bother playing the Xbox version as I'm sure its probably a similar experience as the PS5, not even interested in seeing at this point.

Looks like a buy for me on PC even though it makes my 3080ti sound like a hurricane.

A spoiler here.

So why'd the cops die in the house when they get killed differently in the original? Hm. 😐

I mean, to be fair, we had no clue how either of them died in the original. It is interesting that you seem to be following them as opposed to them getting ambushed at the car, so there's some fuckery at play there, but we'll see!

Huh? I suppose we don't know specifically but we know generally. They stayed in the car and got rammed off a cliff while Leon was in the first house. You can go back and see the car afterwards. Either they got fished out from the wreckage and taken to be burned at the stake/fed to Del Lago or they bailed from the car before the ramming and then were killed/taken away.

Seems pretty obvious in the remake that they're going to investigate the village and Leon will stay at the car. They take too long and Leon goes looking for them so the game can happen.

Managed to fix the lack of resolution options by quitting and launching the game a second time.

Played on a 3060ti with a mix of mostly maxed out and high settings (minus the Textures Cache, for which you'd need a 16GB GPU it seems), and it ran phenomenally at around 1440p 60fps with normal RT enabled and no reconstruction techniques of any kind.

I completed it on PS5, aim doesnt feel great. Usually I dont have trouble shooting with controller but it felt really weird in a bad way here.

Not sure I'll get this day 1 despite playing the OG like 30 times on the ps2. Still havent played RE2R, RE3R or village so I can wait for a sale (and for the VR mode)

Kicking a bunch of villagers with 1 kick will never get old though.
You have time until it comes out to get up to date by playing REmake, RE2R and RE3R, while also giving Capcom time to get their stick deadzone issues sorted out either via the Day 1 patch or another one near launch.

Don't sleep on those remakes, they're all fantastic.

uses 'M$' - What year is it? Not 2002.
Ps5 turn on performance mode turn off lens distortion, motion blur ,depth of field, and the game looks fine way better than 3

Yes, I recall the car. I also recall police officer 1 being on the pyre, burning, in the original, and further on, you see police officer 2 get thrown in a lake. I'm saying nothing has been contradicted but filled out, rather.

Games feel great running on PS4. Great interface. Lots of memories playing the other two remakes on there.

At first glance, the PS4 version looks pretty good. I did notice the foliage you walk through is static and there is more noticeable pop-in.

Yeah it’s really awful looking on ps5, WTF?

RE8 looks so much better, this makes no sense

Even the sound mix was low quality crap. The music that plays during the chainsaw scene is muffled garbage

I have this pre ordered but I’m gonna wait for some serious patching because this is pretty unacceptable, this game should have been delayed

Yeah, there are some weird sound issues, including making the radio on the controller louder than Leon through my sound bar. And my volume is up.

yeah that is their checkerboarding.
foliage + Checkerboarding is always a bad mix. that's why Horizon Forbidden West looked like pure shit at launch, you literally couldn't look anywhere without a mass amount of shimmering across the screen.

I'll take some pics and do some pixel counting too I think real quick. it also doesn't look 4K to me
This is why Im a Native purist. Fuck all these upscalling Artifacts that people pretend dont exist.

Soo.... my monitor is 1440p but the game only allows me to go to 1600x900.
Why?
Edit: Seemed to have fixed itself.
I swear certain buttons like Run don't work with toggle or hold, but the left stick does?
Config even says A is run.
Dead zones are definitely an issue.

Runs incredibly smooth though.
