Are there crafting stations for all equipment sets, or can some only be obtained through loot?

Quite a few of them are drop only. And also quite a few of them are dungeon/trial drop and can't be sold or traded to other players (other than players in the group that cleared the dungeon with you and only for a limited time after the dungeon is cleared), so they need to be farmed by you directly. So you can't take any shortcuts to get BIS gear for most builds. You need to actually put in the work.

Im considering giving this a shot but.... is it cross play with PC/Xbox or no?

Or the BIG question...... if i pay $60 for the Morrowind expansion, does that get my all the original DLC too like the gold version now or no?

Because i am certainly not plunking $120 down for everything, TBH.

No cross play. All 3 systems are separate.

No version of Morrowind comes with the previously released DLC. In order to get everything you would need to get a Gold edition of the game now and then get the $40 Morrowind upgrade version. I got the Gold edition during the holiday sales for $21 USD, so if you look for a bargain you won't be spending anywhere near $120.

I'll probably pass then. Or maybe just try to figure out my old account from launch to mess around with, but wanted to try it on PS4

No one has impressions on the housing yet?

It kinda sucks, IMO.

The free inn room you get is a joke, it's the size of a closet. Every house is just a copy paste of everything that's already in the game. Prices are very high. If you want to buy the biggest houses you need around 3 million Gold or spend $100 in the Crown Store. Furniture currently is hard to acquire because you need to find the recipes and the mats and it takes a lot to build one thing. Only way to deck out a house is to either buy it already furnished with cash or spend a lot of Gold.

It just came out so I'm hoping they improve it as the year goes on. As it stands houses are currently useless.

Honestly there isn't much to give impressions about. It's basically a just gold/crown sink. They don't have a ton of functionality other than you being able to decorate them and throw some of your collectibles and trophies in them, like you can put your merchants in them, or DPS target dummies, etc. I imagine the housing will have the most legs with RPers and people who just like to hang out socially in the game.

I'm looking forward to furnishing a house after Morrowind comes out, mostly because I want a mushroom house, but also because recipes and the materials used to craft the furniture is scarce due to its newness, so I'm building up a catalog of recipes on my crafter for now and hoarding mats for later. Hopefully I'll be able to get some of my MMO friends on board so we can have fun times like we did back when I played FF14

I mean, functionally, what else do people want player housing to do? You can decorate it, have mates over, have merchants and crafting stations.. it's basically the same as every other MMO player housing, which is fine by me.

Quick question guys, how Is the current end game with ESO? Also with Morrowind, is it an expansion where people can start with that or is it something you need to be fairly leveled for?

I had a char and enjoyed it, but the end game was quite a grind which is fine... I'm no stranger to the grind with games like EQ, AC etc... That I did for many moons, but I was hoping the grind would be a little less, have they changed it at all any?

I'm just dabbling with the idea to play again, love Morrowind, but curious how it's mixing into the main game here

Endgame grind for loot is still all RNG so expect a good grind.

Morrowind can be played at any level, they'll even have an option to start a new character there.

I'm finding the best feature of the housing so far is that they basically act as free teleports so while you're out adventuring you don't have to either waste time running back to a wayshrine, or spending 150 gold to warp directly to one. Makes me even more disappointed there isn't a house or even an inn room available in Shornhelm, since that's my go-to for offloading my bags.

I know this is the console version thread but does anyone know the download size of the PC version?

I decided to give it a go and the download started at 40 GB remaining and it now says there are only 25 GB remaining (meaning I've downloaded 15 GB already), however, it says it's only 8% complete overall which makes no sense if it was really only 40 GB in total.

I haven't been able to find any official info/answers to such a basic question that should be readily available somewhere on the official site.

Total size of the install folder is 53 GB. I imagine it probably downloads some extra patch stuff that overwrite itself during the install. Dunno about the percentage, but the launcher installs as well as downloads which takes time so maybe it's factoring that time in.

Also it's dumb that the thread title has Console Edition in it because this thread took over the old OT when those versions came out but it's still the only ESO OT for all versions.

Ok, thanks and yeah I agree with the thread title being odd as I thought this was console only.

I bought this for Xbone... found an used copy at 20€, and for some reason it included unused explorer's pack. Presumably the previous owner couldn't be bothered entering the code.

Had to remove Halo 5 for room but... good riddance i guess. Still, i probably should get an external HDD too, 500GB is a tad little space nowadays.

I actually have this on PC as well but since i still haven't fixed my PC... Besides, the game felt like something i'd enjoy on a console more.

GT is Empyrus, in case someone wants to play sometime. Will probably make a Dunmer.

Many will disagree but I think the loot system needs some work. I never feel very rewarded. Sure I get blues and greens regularly and the occasional purple but they don't really feel all that great. Maybe that changes in end game? Currently lvl 45. I just beat cold harbor story line and I got a Blue sword. That was a long ass story line. Coupled with the fact I'm a staff spec. Give me some options at the end of a quest why don't ya.

Yeah, a mod should just rename the thread The Elder Scrolls Online |OT|

There's a PC thread somewhere but no point in separating discussions at this point.

It definitely feels like a problem that the rarity of the loot you get in this game is absolutely meaningless in determining its value. Because it's so easy to use tempers to upgrade gear, the thing that is most meaningful in determining its value (other than it being cp160) is its trait. So you can sit in a dungeon all day and get a dozen fire staves of varying colors of rarity and they will have no value, but if one of them, even a green one, has the sharpened trait, it's suddenly worth 200k gold because all it takes is a few thousand gold worth of tempers to make it gold rarity. This really makes it hard to evaluate how good loot is at a glance, especially on non-tradable dungeon and trial drops.

It's almost like they should reverse the ease of changing the trait on an item and its rarity so it makes getting purple and gold feel special.

You're only level 45 though so a lot of this probably doesn't pertain to your loot. Until you hit 50cp160 all you need to concern yourself with is basically keeping all your gear as close to your level as possible. Rarity and trait is much less important as the bonuses you get from it while lower level is pretty negligible. It's only once you hit the gear cap and start to finalize an end game build that you're concerned with min/maxing every slot's effectiveness.

Interesting. I didn't even know about Tempers. End game stuff usually scares and bores me but with housing on the way (not to mention Morrowind) I guess it's in my future to dabble there. I'm more of an Altoholic.

Sigh... Creating a character in games is so difficult, especially in ones with classes and stuff.
Doesn't help all classes have interesting stuff...

EDIT In principle, heavy armor for tanks, medium for physical DPS, light for magic, no?

Medium is also associated with stealth and stamina.

Maybe a dunmer Templar with dual wielding... a dedicated priest-knight of the Tribunal.
No idea if that is efficient, gameplay-wise, but sounds somewhat intriguing combination in style.
I mean, dunmer culture is very different from normal fantasy cultures but i don't see why they can't have their own knight-analogue.
And if i feel like it, a fallen dunmer "knight" has good potential for a thief or a murderer.

(My brain keeps saying "play a knight archetype" and "play a dunmer", so this seems like a reasonable compromise.)

A shame the game lacks spears. Would prefer a spear as a weapon... I'm convinced modern game developers hate spears and other polearms. Probably too hard to animate convincingly or something...

The Templar has a Light Spear that gets all jabby, its a spell.

Dynasty Warriors disagrees.

But yeah, I'd really like to see a return of more weapons in the next Elder Scrolls if they aren't willing to do such in ESO. Polearms and different varieties of swords. Maybe even flails like in Arena and Daggerfall.

Yeah, this is the reason I initially started as a Templar. I figured it was as close as I would get to ever wielding an actual spear in the game. Sadly it's still a poor substitute for them being in the game. It's absurd to me out underrepresented spears are in most games, even if there are notable great exceptions, like Dark Souls which is my polearm porn series of choice.

How hard it could be to have both one-handed and two-handed spears in games? And staves too, and halberds.
Elder Scrolls especially should have one-handed spears as an option, to complete the Roman Legionnaire look for Imperial soldiers. A spear and a shield.

Anyway, Templar does have the spear spell but i'm not really thinking about it. Magic spear is not a proper spear. Templar does seem to have style i find right now appealing though. EDIT Also, it seems the class is highly versatile in general, a bonus in my eyes.
For dunmer, i'd prefer straight up fire magic but Dragonknight doesn't seem quite appealing otherwise. I'll make do with light.

Of course, figuring out character looks is just as difficult as choosing race and class... Sigh. Is there any chance games will ever return to simplicity of old games, where i choose face and hair and don't have any other options? (This is a rhetorical question, i know the answer is "no".)

Recently got back into the game after buying it at launch and hardly playing it. enjoying it far more this time.. on the X1 and the only thing that bugs me is the game hub for this game does not track time played like 99% other games. I know there is a stat for hours played but its not the official time tracking that gets pushed to third party websites.

Small complaint but as a stat freak it annoys me.. still fun at least.

I don't think any of those weapons have ever been in a TES game that I can remember.

I decided to preorder the collector's edition of the expansion on Amazon just in case I decided I wanted it for some reason and my order status is showing this:

Is this a pricing error or am I getting some prime discount I wasn't aware existed?

Oh cool, it comes out the same for me! Thanks dude; I pre-ordered for the PS4. Pretty slick deal if it goes through. My nephew is way into ESO on the PC will probably enjoy the collector's stuff. Last time I played an ESO game was Skyrim on the 360 and Morrowind/Oblivion before that. Should be fun to get into it again

Sorry for the stupid question, does this include all the other DLC (Imperial City, Orsinium, Thieves Guild, Dark Brotherhood) or is this just Morrowind and the base game?

I did some searching and I don't think it includes the DLC. I could be wrong, but I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere.

Tanking in this game is so fun. Maybe my favorite in any MMO to date. I love being durable, self-sustaining and also still do decent damage. Just had a group in Crypt of Hearts 2 (normal, not vet) that was completely incapable of staying alive during the 2nd last boss's overlapping AoE mechanic so after they all died on the 4th or 5th attempt I just soloed the entire back half of the fight and felt like a total badass.

I suspect that at least 2 of my teammates were using a gamepad (telltale sign: jumping while trying to loot things) and I'm genuinely curious if that didn't effect their awareness and reaction time while dodging AoEs. I personally have a real bad time trying to play with pad due to the slower camera rotation, the fact that dodge roll is mapped to a double button combo, and that weapon swapping happens on the D-pad. But then I figure the game is played competently on consoles, so it can't be that difficult...

Grabbed ESO:Gold off the Steam sale, and after waiting hours for it to download, then having some weird installation issues (apparently tied to an Nvidia Driver issue?!?) I got the launcher up and running and now it's patching all manner of things.

While I wait - any good resources for beginners? I've been looking online, but a lot of them seem to be written from before the Tamriel Unlimited changes and so I'm kind of lost. I'm assuming the in game stuff will be sufficient, but if I needed a good resource -- where would I be looking?

(Also this thread is kind of dead. :( )

Was the installation issue a windows firewall due to javaw error? I am getting that and someone told me to uninstall and re-install my NVidia drivers which I thought was odd. Haven't tried it yet though.

That was the issue! Turns out the last Nvidia drivers broke Java based installs, so they released a Hot Fix driver.

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4378

After downloading and installing the hotfix there, I was able to run the installer/launcher without any issues.

Once you get the launcher running, it'll download some patches but you'll be good to go from an install point with the hot fix nvidia drivers applied. I've not run into any other issues since that.

Glad to help! I was actually freaking out a bit when it was failing like that, as there was very little to go on. Just that it wasn't working and the initial searches were all pulling up very old, and very archaic fixes for issues with Steam launching the installer. Thankfully one of the top discussion posts on the Steam page linked the file.

Anybody on PC NA feel free to add me @liquid3600 and bug me anytime I'm playing if you have questions of you if need to a tank (or marginal DPS or healer) to hang out. Even if it's something trivial like a partner for a public dungeon or world boss that's too hard to solo or whatever. Would be nice to help someone get accustomed to the game, even if there aren't enough active GAFers playing to populate a guild. Though maybe we could slap one together with Morrowind coming and the possible influx of new players.

Working through Veteran Maelstrom Arena on my Magicka Templar. Oh man this first clear is every bit as intense as advertised. I love that there is very challenging content like this in the game(though doubt I'll continually farm it). I'm at 225 CP with 5 Burning Spellweave, 5 Juliano's and Infernal Guardian set. The monster set did probably 80% of my total damage on the second arena boss. I'm thinking about switching Julie's to Kagrenac, Twice Born Star or Magnus for sustain/survival. The mentality shift between VMSA and everything else reminds me of Diablo 3 a lot while pushing solo GRs. Glass cannon is preferable in groups as you burn stuff down so fast but you have to balance resources, defense and offense to succeed here. The Arena is really feeding my pro PvP mentality. I haven't been as in love with this game at any point as I have now.

Also, everyone suggests that you be minimum 300 CP to do anything endgame but I feel I can comfortably say that's BS. I've healed and DPSed about half of the dungeons on Vet and am progressing through VMSA as well as a lot of people with 500 CP apparently. It's a lot of fun seeing if I can keep up with max players in PvE and PvP.

I think it's about time to farm some Spell Power Cure and start going after NM Trials.

Edit: On PS4. Add me. KC_Darkness. I'm always down to play in any role.
