About 4 hours in. As someone who just couldn't get into the first one I'm kinda enjoying this, I can't tell why though lol. I can say it's not something I'm yearning to play as soon as I get up, for me that's the tell tale sign of a masterpiece.

I'll give it more time today.

I'm in the middle of a move my lg cx is in storage, so playing on a 4k hdr lg monitor and I will say the hdr in the game is really well done, wish I could see it on the oled.

It's a lot better paced than the first game, especially up front. It doesn't waste a lot of time tutorializing you, and it gives you plenty of action before really opening up the world.

So far really enjoying it. I was worried the hub was going to be small/boring compared to the summer camp. Luckily that opens up a bunch.

I think I'm about to complete the game, I only beat the first game 5-6 years ago on PC. I thought it was good and I loved the world and characters for that game, even though I took some issues with its mechanics, which I blame on its age. The game of course isn't as tight as something like Super Mario Odyssey but it's still pretty good and an improvement over the first game of course.

On top of that, between this game and the first I think you can make a serious argument that the basis for the levels in terms of theming is perhaps the most unique and creative. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone but the Psi King stuff in particular was pretty special as was the Compton stuff. The characters, world building, writing and even gameplay are stand-out. Next-gen exclusivity is a win for MS, excited to see Double Fine with a budget as a first party studio. Hopefully we see a return to Brutal Legend as well.

The hub world isn't quite as endearing as Whispering Rock though.

They should have added some kind of a vacuuming perk for figments and maybe a figment detector.
There is a pin you can buy that attracts stuff to Raz. BUT so far I think it only works on Psitanium. I need to get close to a Figment to see if it attracts.

I'm over 17 hours into this game and I keep finding more brain levels. I feel like I'm near the end but it just keeps going and getting an entire new big areas to explore. I just hit Rank 55 and the achievments say it's possible to hit at least 100. I've only collected half of the beginning scavenger hunt items. I 100 percent the Questionable Level. :messenger_beaming:

I ended up enjoying the game, technically better than the original obviously (although horrible stuttering, that they said will be patched, spoiled it somewhat), but not as memorable. The Jack Black level was the high point for me, really superb stuff there. But the combat was still clunky and the puzzles were really dumbed down compared to the original, speaking of which, why did they feel it necessary to tell me how to solve every mind-numbingly easy puzzle within the first 10 seconds? They should let us turn off the hints, sure, have that option if the puzzles had some meat to them, but as it is, that soured things somewhat.

The story was mostly decent, but it kinda stopped being funny for some reason. Still, generally a decent story and better than most of the crap out there. The worlds were mostly good with decent variety and imagination, but not as unique as the original for the most part, the cardboard cutout world was the low point for me world wise, the hub was decent but not as good as the original game. The platforming and navigation were better than the original, but still clunky and frustrating, but good enough.

I didn't like the obvious woke agenda though, for that reason I won't be playing anymore of this companies games. It didn't completely spoil it, but the snipe against Trump was mean spirited and the other stuff was the usual lefty propaganda, now I know why the MSM scored it so highly (not that it's bad, but a 9.5 it is not) and why Microsoft bought them, they go to the same parties. Not terrible, actually brilliant at times (aforementioned JB level), but it left me feeling a bit dissatisfied compared to the original (and grieved with the agenda, that's right, not angry, hurt), no problems as it was free on my brothers GP ;)

It was a 7/10 compared to the first games 9/10. Gutted I waited 16 years for a 7/10, but what can you do...not a waste of time by any means. I have many other thoughts, but I'll keep it to that.

i have no idea what you're talking about with a trump snipe.. and I don't even know what lefty propaganda you're referring to unless you mean
a gay wedding

I figured the Jack Black level would be the consensus favorite but it might be my least favorite. I don't know, I think it went on a little too long and the psychedelic imagery didn't do much for me. My favorite zone of the game is easily the Questionable Area? and then a few of the later levels that I won't mention specifically.

I'm nearly 100% done with the game now. I need just one more figment in one level that I cannot find for the life of me and I'll have done everything aside from this lame full wallet achievement.

The only level I didn't particularly enjoy was the final-ish one because I was a dumb ass and ran around for like 20 minutes until I realized I could interact with the control panel to progress through, so it kinda killed my pacing during the final stretch.

Yeah, I've done stuff like that in games, hate when that happens. That whole sequence with the control panel could have been a lot more seamless too to begin with (if I'm thinking of the same one, pretty sure I am). It was a pretty awkward moment of the game. But otherwise I really loved that whole level.

I love how it reminds me of the old Rare games, running around the levels, exploring, collecting, I missed this so much.

It's not as well written as the first game, in fact, there is a big difference, and there are pacing problems, as it will feature long exposition followed by 3 minutes of walking around before you get another long expostition scene. But still, it's a great game, really enjoying it, it got a lot of slick level design, unique art, and polished well-made gameplay.

Okay, getting the full wallet achievement was pretty cake with the Mental Tax pin and zipping around the Collective Unconscious.

I think it's an imperfect game but I still really enjoyed it. Definitely my GOTY so far.

Gonna have to buy a new Xbox for the inevitable Psychonauts 3. And Indiana Jones if it doesn’t suck. Grateful that I can play it on PS5 at 60fps. It’s one of the best games I’ve played all year easily.
if we are so lucky..

I wish I took more screenshots but I look at my xbox captures and I only took two throughout my entire playthrough lol.

What doorway.
Never mind cause the ending credits are rolling!
I finished it. Not 100 percent, yet.
The final achievement said less than 3 percent of players.
When you get stuck there was a door you could enter and smack a music box. Usually each section had one to turn off the loop lolol

When I finished the game on "launch day" (cuz I started on the 24th) it was like 0.12% completion rate
