NPD Sales Results for October 2015 [Up1: Xbox #1]

Halo 5 did not do much for Xbone.

Price drop did not do much for PS4.

Maybe both systems will have a higher baseline now though.

Lol at being prisoners of the moment. Remasters will continue to come out and do relatively well compared to the effort put into them. The marketing campaign for the collection wasn't anything in any stretch of the imagination - big, close to big, medium...whatever metric you chose to judge it. Not to mention they cut MP - a feature you can tout until you can't catch your breath - it's also added value and prolongs user engagement and that has many side effects - including propagating word of mouth.

So Uncharted charting the way it did was what it deserved based on the effort more or less - if you take everything into consideration at the least. Brands need marketing. Just look at Halo's marketing campaign or any other big title charting high and doing well. A name just isn't enough.

Now we wait for the numbers. Sport games are doing pretty well this gen. The league's are doing a great job of expanding and engaging young audiences I guess cause marketing by publishers for these games is not that different from past efforts.

Also, wouldn't it be kinda dumb to buy an XB1 or PS4 this month, versus waiting an extra month and getting fucking awesome bundles? Ie. Star Wars and COD.

If I was going to buy a PS4, I'd buy it with Starwars.

Why would I get a PS4 in October?

The top selling console for October was Xbox One the NPD Group reported today.

According to a statement from Microsoft, the Xbox One saw 81 percent growth compared to October 2014. Staying on message, it said "the strength of the greatest games lineup in Xbox history," including October's top-selling game Halo 5: Guardians, helped drive "record Xbox Live" usage for the month, as well as put the console above its competitors.

Halo 5 did indeed top the charts for October, beating out multiplatform NBA 2K16 for the month. Microsoft expects its top-spot to trend forward, pointing out the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider, the high consumer demand for the Xbox Elite controller, and "the New Xbox One Experience including backward compatibility" as future drivers of hardware sales.

October saw a modest growth in console sales, up just 3% over the same period last year. However, current-gen consoles saw an increase of 12% which offset last-gen consoles, which saw a 66% tumble in sales compared to the same period last year

There has not been a new Uncharted game since late 2011. And this remaster means nothing concerning how well Uncharted 4 will be received.

I'd imagine the lower than expected numbers for PS4 was due to the $50 price cut driving people to pre-order the Battlefront bundle, which would count towards November's numbers.

PS4 has sold 297k in October 2014, and we know is under 304k... this mean is basically flat YOY in the pricedrop month.

When UC4 comes out it will be over 4 years since the last one .
