I have only that one, and would love some opinion on them. I was thinking getting those as well!

and I hate the fact that MiChi is always ignored when Jpop is being discussed :(

Both are pretty good. The mini-album may be a little bit better but you can't go wrong with the two albums. Great stuff.

If anyone here is open to more underground and "harsh" genres of rock music, and enjoys bands like Envy. I feel like there are many Envy-similar bands out of Japan than I should promote. There's a lot of good screamy, chaotic music out of Japan than just Envy, though sadly only Envy is mostly known.

gauge means nothing is a sadly overlooked, and disbanded Japanese "screamo" group(the same genre of music as Envy). gauge means nothing was also one of the few screamo bands out of Japan with a female vocalist, which was very nice. Screamo in general needs more female musicians. Other differences from Envy outside of having a female vocalist, is that while Envy is more consistently harsh, gauge means nothing is more chaotic and desperate sounding. There's a lot of random variation and discordant sounds in gauge means nothing's music. gauge means nothing also mentioned that they've been inspired by children's songs. Giving them a very different feel from other screamo bands, almost as if chaotic screamo had been mixed with denpa music. I'm often reminded of bullied children in Japan. As in sound, and thematically, their music has reminded me of child bullying in Japan. It's very emotionally invokative music.

Some people don't like their music or find it as impressive as Envy, because it is much more chaotic and discordant. But I very much recommend their music.

Nitro Mega Prayer is another Japanese band, similar to Envy, that goes very unnoticed. Their music tends to be very melodic and less ambient than Envy. And they have a very unique screaming style within the screamo genre. Not everyone enjoys it, but I personally do. And I feel like they're music should be tried out. I also feel like their music builds a lot more than Envy.

Endzweck might not technically count as "screamo", but I'm recommending it anyway. Their music seems like a mix between 'screamo' and traditional melodic hardcore. As well as perhaps occasionally, metalcore. Though I would mostly classify it as melodic hardcore. It's unfortunate, that both many heavy metal fans and punk fans, look down upon metalcore and melodic hardcore. But Endzweck's music is great and a seriously recommend it.

Dipleg is another not very well known Screamo band out of Japan. That I feel deserves a lot more exposure and recognition than they do. Their sound is very similar to Nitro Mega Prayer. Though perhaps more melodic.

1000 Travels of Jawaharlal is another very great Japanese screamo band that doesn't get the recognition they deserve. Their music is very traditional melodic hardcore inspired. In fact, 1000 Travels of Jawaharlal is another band that seems more akin to older punk roots, and is on the border of screamo and traditional melodic punk. 1000 Travels of Jawaharlal is far more traditional hardcore than Envy. And it's extremely melodic and upbeat for Screamo. Very different from Envy, Portraits of Past, or Funeral Diner's heavy use of ambiance.

The singer for Genki Rockets (安田レイ/Yasuda Rei/Rachel Rhodes) has a few songs out but the only song that's really 'clicked' with me has been her first single "Best of My Love" (especially the Genki Rockets remix). All of her other songs are just.. I don't really listen to them a lot.

I wish she would make more music with Genki Rockets instead. Though I'm still looking forward to her album, whenever that comes out.

Hopefully one day she decides to do another album with Genki Rockets.

So Sakanaction's new single is out in the wild.
Goodbye is a pretty great song. It reminds me of their earlier songs, you could totally have this track on GO TO THE FUTURE.

So far I already have a lot of stuff to buy in March. Already pre-ordered Asian Kung-Fu Generation's blu-ray box with the two live shows at the Yokohama Stadium and BUMP OF CHICKEN's new album. I'm also going to grab the HIATUS's new album and (maybe) Glutamine's new album along with KEYTALK's new single. Is it reasonable to add Handsome Kenya's CDs...

Next month I'm getting KANA-BOON's new single, and SAKANAMON's two full albums and one of their mini-album /sigh
Or maybe SAKANAMON could wait...

My friend seems to only see concerts for bands with female singers. This is the most recent band he tried to get me into. I dig 'em. I have no clue what the hell their name could mean, though. Chilean ??? Waka? I don't think they have waka poetry in Chile... Anyway, check it out.

Listened to some the HIATUS while working today. Two months and ten days until the new album, the wait is really killing me. I love them so much... I really don't know what to expect since all their albums are so different, the diversity of their songs is mindblowing. And of course Hosomi's voice is heavenly.

It's quite amazing to see that all the musicians of the band come from different backgrounds. The vocalist is from Ellegarden (californian-like punk-rock), the guitarist from Fullscratch (punk), the bassist from Thee Michelle Gun Elephant (garage rock), keyboardist from Tokyo Jihen (I think you all know them) and the drummer from toe (instrumental rock).

I saw this band busking on the street last night in Kichijōji. Pretty awesome if you like Irish Folk music (I know I do). Apparently, they often play with Drakship! I wanna see them together some time. The violinist got really into it when they were playing their last song. She was stomping, and dancing with her long jacket. I noticed that she started tearing up near the very end. I almost cried. I love music so much, but I don't think I've had a song almost move me to tears the first time I heard it.

ART-SCHOOL recently announced their new album which will be released on April 9th. That's already great news. But there's more, one of the tracks is produced by Masafumi Gotoh from Asian Kung-Fu Generation and is a featuring with the rapper Tamaki Roy! Three awesome bands/artists working on the same song, I can't wait!

You know 環ROY?? He's one of my favorite Japanese rappers behind Ken the 390 and Shing02. A lot of people in the J-Hip hop scene are hoping Roy gets big. His production values, like Ken, are crazy, he's got style, and his flow is dope.

Late reply since I was browsing this thread for new jpop songs. Anyway, I strongly believe Ierio Leo is the best Japanese pop artist out there at this moment. Sure, many will disagree with me but there hasn't been one song I dislike from her and she's the only artist that has more than 30 plays in each of her songs on my playlist. Her songs are either motivational, have meaning, or just plain awesome to listen to. Definitely give her a listen.
