ELDEN RING |OT| One Ring To Rule Them All

Bleed is overrated imo.

The easiest way to play is with magic, but that is mega boring.

The most fun - and still relatively easy way - is to go with massive strength and use colossal weapons. You can poise break and stun lock and smash bosses to smithereens. In all the builds I’ve tried this feels the most natural way to play the game.

I once saw a "Biels" (dutch) translates to "sleeper".. it's like a big log. Anyways it looked almost exactly like that ruin sword. Should've made a picture. It had the same spiral round nerves in it etc lol

Reading this and your post in my DS2 thread it seems like you're a guy that like impact lol. Meaty collisions with great visual impact etc. Correct?

Lol I dual wielded those bad boys and it was mad fun. This was pre-colossal weapon buffs though so I promptly switched to something a little faster when I got to the end game bosses. Think it was the Guts’ sword? I wanna say Great Stars too but I remember not wanting to use them because it had bleed. With this new patch I might trial some bonk builds again. Found the poise break a bit too easy, before.

I mainly dual wield long swords but I’m actually really fond of doing a Battlemage with Wing of Astel so I wanna try that again. Not sure if I like Faith enough to give it another try.

Really I’m prob just gonna stick with the long swords.

You speak in masters degree riddles in ER.

Loved the ruin sword but mainly used that Guts sword. Haven't found the motivation for the Plat even if it's very doable

I'm jumping back in after never having finished it.

How can I respec in the game?
Beat Academy of Raya Lucaria shardbearer in Liurnia to unlock option for rebirth in exchange for larval tears. One can be obtained by slaying a Giant Crayfish walking around between Boilprawn Shack and Rose Church in the area.

Can someone tell me how the shit do I summon other players into my game to help me out?

I'm outside castle morne, and I used both the furled finger and effigy, and both times I go to someone else's game.

I don't want that. I need people in my game helping me out. How do I do that?

Just use the furled finger. You'll see mark of other player on the ground (especially near summoning pool).

Effigy send your sign into summoning pool to be summoned.

I just got a ps5. Is the ps4 version still the way to go on ps5 or have they fixed the performance issues on the ps5 version?

I was in the same boat as you.

Got the PS5 version and decided to try the PS5 version, I didn't think frame drops would annoy me.

Bro, don't. Shit sucks ass. When the game starts stuttering, it just annoys you.

Majority of people say to play the PS4 BC mode, and I personally think they are correct. If you start the PS5 version, I don't think you can go back to the PS4 version. I had to wipe my 3 hour save to start on PS4.

I think it depends on each sensibility to it.

I play the PS5 version and never noticed anything. But I am not sensitive to framerate (30 FPS or even less is fine for me) and this kind of stuff.

Installed it yesterday... Separate trophy set??
I'm not sure I have the energy for getting plat again... (but my ocd will eventually force me to go for the plat again).
Stupidly, since I got the ps5, my brain keeps whispering "play Stardew Valley!".

Damn, still the same? Even you if enable VRR on PS5, the PS5 version of the game still feels sluggish?

I really don't understand why you would play the PS4 version on your PS5, I played the game on my PS5 in performance mode and didn't notice a single frame drop the entire way through the game

For me yes. I felt it. Just play it on ps4. Trust me. Game isn't some god tier tech showpiece. The artstyle is what carries this game. I think you miss out on some extra grass and 1 second faster loading. It's nothing. But you gain flawless 60fps.

I 100% felt it in that outpost where you get torrent.

If you went in there and fought all those guys and felt nothing, then we are different.

Can't, bought the PS5 version of the game.

Fun fact : You don't necessarily get Torrent there. I don't remember the exact conditions but she's appearing after you activate a certain numbers of grace (outside of cave/dungeon). She appeared in Church of Elleh for me.

Anyway, I never notice technical issue in games except if they are really problematic. I think everyone has different priority and don't notice the same thing.
For example, I didn't notice the framerate in Blightown's swamp was problematic in Dark Souls (PS3) whereas a lot were complaining about it.

For me Elden Ring PS5 works perfectly. I notice some big pop in of grass here and there. But that's it.

I originally bought the PS4 version for my PS5. I could not imagine playing the PS4 version on it.
Whatever frame drops that may occur is not even close to the huge benefit of load times.
It is something like 3 seconds on PS5 to 15-20 on PS4 in BC mode.
Maybe if you never fast travel, but I do it multiple times a game.

Currently doing the tutorial as we speak and the game seems much nicer than expected. I liked bloodborne and Sekiro (specially this one), but Demon Souls and Dark Souls never really clicked for me.

I'm playing with framerate prioritize and VRR enabled, PS5 version, and game looks gorgeous so far.

Went with samurai class and the unsheathe skill is awesome. Still learning the ropes of the game, it's rather convuluted at the beginning.

Can I edit how the character looks down the road?

Yeah you can change how they look but I think you're locked into the sex you chose.

Curious to see if you like Elden Ring since it's much more taking from Demon's and Dark Souls than Bloodborne and Sekiro.

Yes, a bit later you'll be able to modify your character at will.

At the Round Table Hold, where the maiden offers to take you, there is an interactive mirror in the same room as Fia, the Deathbed Companion.

So I'm following a samurai build guide, guy tells me go to Dragon Burnt ruins and open the chest to get teleported to a specific area.

Game sends me to a totally different area. Is this supposed to happen? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Yes. Only when trap chests or portal gates are involved. For the trap chests you need to rest at a site of grace before you can fast travel again.

My dudes where can I find a dummies guide? Seriously this game throws items at you without any explanation whatsoever.

I got a summon - the three wolves one - and I can't equip it. Why's that?

When you see a gravestone in the lower lefthand corner of the screen you will be able to use it. (Maybe equip the wolf summon to a shortcut on the righthand side of the in-game menu for convenience.)

P.S. The game has gameplay mechanic entries in the information section of the inventory that you might find useful.

Another question, the FP gauge can only be filled with flasks? It doesn't auto-regenerate? Only now I realized unsheathe drains the FP gauge :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Yeah it doesn’t auto generate.

You can find talismans that regen it per kill and that lessen the amount you use per special move.

You can also reallocate your flask distribution so you refill the gauge with each chug.

I read an interesting tweet thread from a game designer once that explained how auto FP regen would have created a stop-start rhythm to the game.

Arrived at Margit the Fell...and well shit. Even with the sorcerer summoning, the wolves summoning and being over leveled for this specific boss (level 33), I'm struggling.

Welcome to Elden Ring, I guess.
You’ll get it. The attacks look more vicious than they are. Look up ONGBALL on YouTube for inspiration.

So how do incantations work? I got one from the dude at roundtable - heal - but can't seem to equip it. I read something about needing a sacred seal. Where can I find those?

Already beaten the 2nd main boss, don't know if I should have come across any sacred seal by now or not.

Last edited:
To use incantations you need a spell slot and a sacred seal. The Finger Seal is available for purchase at the Roundtable Hold (the twin maiden husks merchant is in the room past the guard at the entrance to a study). To equip the spell to a slot you need to attune it while resting at a bonfire. To increase spell slots you can purchase a Memory Stone from the same merchant.

Personally I think Margit is more difficult than he needs to be in a few ways. They want you to be encouraged to go exploring, I get that, but the attack delays are more extreme than anything else in the entire game. He's got combos that seem to catch you unless you were already away from him. I can more reliably dodge the most difficult bosses in the game than I can Margit.
