Judgement:
So far it's just ok. I never picked this up because while I love the Yakuza games, I always found it a bit underwhelming how similar this looked to them. It always seemed like a wasted oportunity for the studio to make something truly different.
I'm around 4 hours in and it's pretty much what I expected: Slightly different Yakuza.
It's a Yakuza game so it's still fun. But the whole detective angle so far is a gimmick at best and and annoyance at worst (tailing missions, really?).

Fire Emblem Engage:
Really enjoying it so far, it's the Fire Emblem experience I wanted on Switch and didn't get with Three Houses. My only complaint is that I still find the character design really bland. You've got some cutscenes with regular soldiers fighting and then their commander is a teenage girl in a party dress, it's just stupid.
Judgement is DEFINITELY overrated....it is another Yakuza game in disguise, only you are not playing Kiryu-san, I couldn't be bothered with the endless battle with the final "boss" it was a joke...in the end I ended up watching the last remaining bits on YouTube, one of those games I regret purchasing for the PS4...but at the time you thought, hmmm could be an interesting thriller..

I'm still having fun but it's definitely (at least so far) the weakest game from the studio I've played in a while.
It's same old Yakuza with a bland detective gimmick. Conceptually there's potential but all the "detective" mechanics so far are really underbaked. There's segments about looking for evidence but it's just walking in first person looking at stuff, and you don't really have to pay attention because they won't let you miss evidence (you can't progress unless you've seen it all), then at other times there's moments to show evidence but there's pretty much no penalty for showing the wrong one and you never run the risk of not having the right one anyway (because the game won't let you miss any). Then there's tailing missions which were already old in like 2009.

The core story is interesting at always but even that feels really slow. Feels like the main plot barely moves forward while you are sent around town doing random stuff.

I hope the second half is stronger .

Judgement and Lost Judgement are very good imo, they are just less good then Yakuza games for being well less Yakuza to me, like less cool bad guys like in Y0, in general it got less Yakuza business then the Yakuza games. And Kiryu is the best character in series. Still had a lot of fun with both Judgement games.

I was moving along at a brisk pace through FF7r but I dunno, I'm not really feeling the battle system. At launch it was fun but it's just kind of getting frustrating. It's not that I'm stuck anywhere, just not as fun where I'm at. It's just kind of a clusterfuck, lol. Honestly more interested in the cutscenes cause they're so damn entertaining and well written.

Outside of that, been dabbling in White Knight Chronicles (remastered version on WKCII disc). Also started streaming the Saturn version of Powerslave.

Beat the poison snake boss and managed to grab her soul core which is pretty overpowered.

Moved onto disc 2. Game is great although the warehouse section was a little annoying because it was hard to see some of the evidence.

Obscure
I've made it into the basement. Died for the first time because I got overwhelmed by two of those huge creatures.

Just finished up the platinum for Theatrhythm Final Bar Line. I went from having no intentions of playing this game, to being one of the most fun games I've played in years.

I didn't think anything would keep me from starting Octopath Traveler 2 on launch day, but it did.

But, now I downloaded OT2 and will start it later tonight.

I was playing a lot of GoldenEye on Switch which led me to try out that cancelled XBLA remaster which also took quite a few hours, then on to the romhack/fangame Goldfinger while also running through Metroid Prime remaster currently! Goldfinger 64 is really solid and well worth a look.

Yea it is. I rarely used another soul core after that.

I played 5 hours of the Wo Long demo. Got my level 20 ready for Friday. Been playing Metroid Prime Remastered. I am almost at the end of the game. It’s been great. I beat the final boss of Infamous Second Son. It made me miss the PS3 games.

I've been going through the original PS2/PSP God of War games in an emulator over the past two weeks. They've aged really well (outside of a few janky areas) but I'd totally forgotten how over-the-top these games were. I really miss that type of action now because the last two games have seemed rather neutered by comparison. And they look damn great at 4k.

I still have GoW3 and Ascension to go through. I'll need to play them on my PS5 and PS3 but they should still look great on my old plasma.
did you consider streaming them via the PS5's old PSNow service? trophies can be unlocked that way on PS3

A bit LTTP but I just dumped 120 hours into Chained Echoes and it's easily in my top 5 list of best RPG's of all time, and likely even my top 10 of favorite games of all time. It did so many things right. It's a 10/10 for me and I can't recommend it enough to fans of old school RPG's.

I thought the narrative was a little weak and that normal party combat was vastly superior to the mech based combat so the balance was a bit jarring & off - but the game still rocks and is a must play.

Yeah it had plenty of flaws. I kind of thought the narrative was annoying, like they kept adding some new plot point, adding more and more layers when it wasn't necessary. I just ignored the story after a while. The crystal system was needlessly complicated, although I found a way to have fun overpowering my characters with them. The sky armors weren't necessary, could have done with out those. But yeah, overall I loved the game. I hope we see more love for old school RPG's due to Chained Echoes success. Just goes to show people are still interested in that kind of a game.

I don't think I'll switch either. I'm using a stamina based Odachi build with some fire damage and it's wrecking everything.

I'm really hoping I get my copy of Wo Long tomorrow. Completely forgot about the game until I saw someone mention a demo the other day. I adore both Nioh games so my expectation levels are pretty damn high.

After 150 hours I finished Fire Emblem Engage on hard/classic and I honestly can say I enjoyed last boss in Engage way more than Tactics Ogre's last boss. It was challenging but still actually fun.

I'm also still playing Octopath 2, I'm so glad games like this exist so I can get my turn based RPG fix.

I’m currently playing Ghost Song and I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I keep going back to it. I just love 2D metroidvania’s.

If you’re looking for a new MetroidVania, let Ghost Song be your next adventure.

I ditched Sleeper Citizen before I finished it. Loved it at first but the writing just couldn’t keep my attention and I never really felt threatened by anything. I love the concept and presentation, I just need more from a game.

Concentrated on Cyberpunk last night. Gonna give Wo Long a proper go tonight.

My backlog is fucking stupid. Didn’t help when I purchased a PS5 and signed up PS+ Premium. I’m currently playing:

Atomic Heart (Xbox Series X)
Fortnite (Xbox Series X)
Horizon 2 (PS5)

  • Wanted: Dead. Playing my 4th time through, on Japanese Hard mode now. Might try and get some of the last few achievements as well. I'd easily get them all except for these insanely difficult rhythm games.
  • Atomic Heart: Honestly not that far, but will try to play this weekend again finally. Really enjoyable.
Clock is ticking. Gotta beat these both soon so I can start Octopath Traveler 2 and Wo Long.

Just want to put this out there, Echoes is one of my favorite video game covers of all time - particularly because of the foil finish on NGC. I really hope they don't fuck the remastered version.

If Echoes is anything like the quality of Prime, I don't see any reason for worry. I agree on the cover. Very nice artwork.

I've just started playing TLOU2.

I know I'm LTTP but I Had absolutely no interest in the game, hated the first one.

But I bought it for £8 in the sale, why not at that price.

I've just made my way back to Dina in the theatre.

Can't say it's really gripping me yet. Those flashback sections are just ..... Eurgh. Really takes you out of the game.

I'll finish it this weekend probably. Probably not.

Arrived at my favorite area in Metroid Prime, Phendrana Drifts. I love the snowy glaciers and the music here, generates a cool and atmospheric vibe. Prime has such good level design, each area with their specific themes and enemies. Nintendo has done a great job with this remaster. This games deserves a well done makeover and to be able to bring it with me when I travel is even greater.

How was Atomic Heart?

& I finished Hogwarts Legacy, took me 40+ hours to complete the main story and all side quests.

Got a lot of collectibles left, but I'll return to them one day.

I finished wanted dead as well, what was quite fun, with some fairly frustrating sections.

Will probably start either wild hearts properly, wo long or like a dragon Ishin next :)

I just remembered that Onimusha got ported to PC and then I saw that it's also on sale today so I bought it and I'll start it over the weekend.
Previously I beat it on PS2 and Xbox back in the day.

edit: refunded it. That game has aged ROUGH.

I’m taking advantage of the current gen hitting its stride by playing Borderlands 2 and Persona 3 FES on PS3. P3 still holds up really well, and B2 is always a winner because:
