Just started online dating for the first time - single dad, divorced in 2017 and been celibate since.
Too busy working, coping and getting over trauma, and child rearing. 49yo.
Child in high school, would rather do nothing w/ me these days..

I paid for some Hinge premium service for 3 month, but not sure if I'll continue afterwards. Probably quit and see if I can meet people in real life.
My friends (mostly atheist) are telling me to join Church or temple...

Online dating apps are a tool. For sure there are people that use it in the same way you are. 90% aren't ..
I've met lots of woman with favorable results this way. I've also doubted myself and brought about insecurities this way.
We are more than a profile picture and our life condensed to a couple sentences in our description.
