I have a timeline of Nintendo over the past few months.
Actual events-
Iwata in May: "Starting today, we must save DS systems for Pokemon. We can make 170,000 a week. Ship 150,000 and save 20,000 for later"
*DS cap begins*
Minion in June "Sir! DS stocks are going as planned, but it appears there wont be enough cards! Games dont stop selling"
Iwata: "Fine, cap some games. No game can have more than 50,000 cards a week"
Minion: "But FF3!"
Iwata "500k day one, 50k after. Screw Square."
*DS card shortage begins*
Minion in August: "Sir! DS systems are ready for September, DS cards are ready for pokemon....but we no longer have enough plastic for game boxes!"
Iwata: "Damnit. Tell the europe factory to dedicate all resources to Pokemon boxes. Those bastards use 75% more plastic. Give em cardboard! Can we use boxes weve dedicated to square?"
"No sir, they have a box clause in their contract"
*DS box shortage begins*
-Projected-
Minion in September "Sir, weve run out of paper for instruction manuals!"
Iwata: "Godamnit man, we're rolling in yen. Use that for paper"
*Paper shortage begins*
Minion in October: "Sir! Weve used all of the japanese paper money! And there are no more trees"
Iwata "Godamnit man. Use whale blubber!"
