We have parody threads. Look at stuff from bangladesh, fluffy delusions and not the guy you kill. Those can't be serious.

I typed all this up for the Whittaker thread but didn't want it to go to waste. It was mostly a parody:

A lonely astronomist in the American Southwest thinks he's made contact with extraterrestrial life, but in reality he's being catfished by another lonely astronomist in Peru named [insert believable Peruvian woman's name here].

When the two finally meet in an embarrassing fashion, they discover his Jewish parents and her large stereotypical fiery Hispanic family don't get along, threatening to end their increasingly close encounters.

However, one night Zeke (the guys name, appropriate for its Jewishness and alleged alien shit in Ezekiel) has a real ufo encounter, in which he is blinded and loses consciousness. He wakes up to a stray mutt licking his face by the side of the road. He decides to the keep the dog (who may not be of this earth) and names him Astro.

At first, Astro just adds more tension to the family situation, but when he gets dog cancer, the family sets aside their differences and comes together.

I'll let Gary decide whether Astro lives or dies and whether Zeke and the Peruvian ultimately get married.

We totally need a Sunday Morning Talk |OT| it's infuriating to watch this stuff by myself and not have a place to talk about it. I think such a thread would probably qualify as a "parody thread" by the time things were all said and done.

I guess this would be more of a parody title for a real thread.

I sometimes thought about what I would call the Half-Life 3 official thread, eventually settling on "Half-Life 3 |OT| The fun has been TRIPLED!" as a reference to GAF's MLP community threads.

It's probably a good thing I'm not making that OT.

I made a parody thread right around the time all of the console rumors were coming out for current gen:

This was my first ban. So proud. My second was for making fun of sexist nerds in an incredibly sarcastic and mean way.

I also have made these threads, which are less parodies of specific threads and more of just parodying gaf as a whole.

I wouldn't make a parody thread if I had the chance. I already got Junior'd for making a super serious thread so I'd imagine I'd get banned for a parody thread.

Response threads when GAF gets thirsty are the best... I think they're bannable though.

I don't know what the tread would be about, but I've been wanting to make a thread titled Basic-Bitch GAF.

I think maybe it would be about dogs, or something.

If it's non-vulgar?/ToS-violating and actually funny, the mods won't ban you, they'll just lock it when it's run its course. If it's non-vulgar and they don't think it's entertaining or clever enough to be worth tolerating, they'll just lock it.

But if there were an absolute torrent of bad attempts at parody or joke threads, then I'd imagine the ban-standards would become more generous reallll quick.

I made a parody thread once, it was the day that one dude made two threads about moving to japan and then to south korea.

Cyan said that parody threads weren't against the rules I think but they've got to be in good taste and probably will be cracked down on if things get out of hands.

If one believes there is any merit or meaning to real life, there must be for a parody life as well, since it springs from the same well.

It's the same justification I have for spending the majority of my life existing in nonsense fantasy realms.
