NYC GAF |OT| We get around in a hole in the ground

What happened to all that rain and damaging wind we were supposed to get? lol Not a drop! Wacky weather but at least its supposed to be much cooler and lower humidity today. I'll take that for sure!

Annoying because I had an event canceled because of the "rain".

When two people stand and block the door, oblivious, it's one of the most enraging things. But it's also run to just run into them. I also enjoy running into people who are trying to get on the train but won't let the exiting people leave first.

I do the same. In fact, I take my sweet time getting off if I see assholes have made a way for people to get off.

You sound like a really fun guy to be around

isn't that just what everyone does?

Really?

We’ve all been frustrated on the MTA, but to go out your way to physically piss people off for not having the right subway etiquette at that moment, and get enjoyment out of it, you’re just an asshole.

I mean, it's New York. Pushing around is kind of expected, just don't be surprised if you sometimes poke the hornets nest.

The hornets nest is the homeless guy jacking off and then touching every surface on the E Train.

Yes, of course. Every day.

Really?

Physically piss people off? What do you think I'm doing, running full speed into people and knocking them down...? If someone isn't letting you on or out of the subway car, you have to force your way on or out. Or do you just stand there?

Do you not ride the subway in the morning or something?

I also enjoy running into people

These are your own words, only an asshole would have this mentality to ”teach a lesson" to the subway etiquette law breakers

I ride the subway many times a day, everyday, thank god the vast majority of people don't have your mindset

Yes, because, you know, I meant, literally, running into them. Literally.

You must be a joy to have conversations with :) "Your exact words were that you'd eat a shoe if this didn't happen. It didn't happen, and you refuse to eat a shoe. What a liar you are."

The assholes are the people that don't let others off first. Shit isn't hard. Step aside. How the fuck are you going to get on while others are trying to get off?

I dont like having to do it, but I dont have a problem pushing through people that are being assholes.

People that sit/stand on the stairs fuckin pisses me off too. Theyre already too narrow and you need to block part of them? Get the fuck outta here.

The one nice thing about the NY subway system being old and creaky is it doesn't have escalators. Dealing with tourists blocking escalators in the DC Metro is one of the commuters' pet rage-inducing moments, right next to "okay we're off the escalator but we'll immediately stop and look around blocking people from getting around us."

Nice spin

Okay. You'll note that everyone agrees with me... but fine, we are all the assholes here.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time in DC, and I hear you on the escalator thing. I honestly think it's sometimes a safety issue as well. It's not a place to congregate and figure out your next steps!!

Lmao I expect to be pushed and shoved, but someone purposely running into me? Yeah that's going to start a fight.

You're okay with someone purposefully pushing and shoving you, but you're not okay with someone running into you? I'm almost certain an actual shove would start a fight about 2,000 times faster rather than someone running into someone.

Or maybe I'm not understanding what you consider "running into someone" means.

I don't "enjoy" it but ngl, I've more purposefully bumped into people on my way out when they're trying to get on the subway when it's obvious people are still getting off.

I also do it sometimes moving past someone if they get on, there's a whole crowd behind them, and then they stop at the first pole and plug people from filling up the empty middle of the car.

It's not a push or a shove or really anything with momentum, it's literally a bump that I don't try extremely hard to avoid because they're already in the space.

I meant getting roughed around by accident on a crowded train, or someone trying to get out of a train, which happens. Why are you instigating? Are you enjoying this too?

You try to get on while people are getting off? I go through you. I don’t go out of my way to make contact and I’m almost always at the doors as they open to my stops, but if you’re in my way you’re slowing everything down, and I’d rather physically make a path through a jerk than hold up many more people behind me.

Just do the right thing, y’all.

Right, no one is debating that people shouldn't get off first and they should be given the room to do so, but to purposely start running into people, and enjoying doing so, is just laughable and sad

Dear NY-GAF I'm going to your wonderous city tomorrow for a couple of weeks, and I have a few questions;

I was wondering if anybody had some cool ideas of things to see in Brooklyn and Manhatten that tourists don't notice usually.
My intiniary is the usual big sights and museums, so it would be interesting to hear if you have any off-the-beaten suggestions to things of interest.

Particularly, I'm looking for nice restaurants/street food on the cheaper side as well as quirky things to see; Could be anything- from stores, parks, malls, exhibitions, art, anything really:)

It could also be concerts, events, parades and stuff like that, that takes place!

There's really only one NYC event worth going to:

Conductor: Are we on the wrong line?

Conductor: This is the last stop on this F train due to mechanical issues.

Trains are absolutely crazy lately. Today was 45 minutes late for dinner with gf's parents because we were stopping for ten minutes at each stop. So annoying.

Bless you MTA. I really wanted to be an hour late to work. I guess small miracle I got a seat before we stopped moving.

Looking at the pics of 168th, it looks crazy. People said that they shut down the elevator because too many people.

Went to see the Hansel and Gretel exhibit over the weekend:

http://www.armoryonpark.org/programs_events/detail/hansel_gretel

First room was fun and interesting, if short.

Second room was... uh... less interesting, especially after the first.

Worth seeing for $15, but then again, I like unique experiences like this.

Just saw pictures. Looks terrible. Not sure what happened there.

Track fire at 145th. No c trains and delays with a trains. So everyone literally went to the 1 trains.

I remember when some dude shit a 168 elevator. It was June or July. Good times.

LMAO! That sounds like pure torture for the 30 seconds that you're in that elevator. I loathe taking the elevators in the 181st and 168th stations. If stairs were an option like in the 181st A train station, I would take them any day (there are escalators but unless I can go down and up them without hitch, I'd avoid it).

Luckily most of the catastrophes on the AC have all been way up in upper Manhattan. I'm usually not taking it any further than Columbus Circle so I'm not affected much.

When my wife has to start going to CUNY though... yeesh.

I remember I had a FWB with this one woman that lived around a stop that used those elevators. This was during the summer.

I ended things after my third trip up there.
