D3 console is the first Blizzard game I can remember where Blizz didn't make an announcement about how fast it was selling. Probably hasn't even hit 1M on console yet.

Maybe the hardware drop is in money earned, since the wii u and ps3 had price drops? (and maybe the 360 as well?)

If Nintendo's marketing wouldn't be so mind bogglingly pathetic recently, they might have just kept a little of the WiiU momentum by letting people know that an exclusive Sonic game comes out today (? or pretty soon anyway, I'm not even sure lol).
It's already a pretty weak increase for a new bundle with price cut.

Right now estimates indicate:

Wii U: ~90k
360: ~170k
PS3: ~190k
3DS: +190k
Vita: +33k

Man, if this is true, Killzone didn't really do much for the Vita.

It comes out tomorrow in the UK. End of the month in the US. Although a little blurb acknowledging Sonic's existence wouldn't have hurt Nintendo.

Wait, does the GTA V positioning on the chart not include any copies that were bundled with hardware? If so... would that mean that it might have...gasp... sold more on PS3?

More than "a little bit" I think. Is that a problem or something?

*facepalm.gif*

The game sold millions, like probably 8 million, and you think the 100k tops bundles PS3 sold makes a difference? The split is going to be similar to the UK which puts the 360 version well over 1m ahead, if not more.

And the PS3 would be above that?
And the 3DS would be above the PS3?

Wasn't the highest console only like 130K last month? Wow.
This is just a usual September bump. Every month till Dec goes up and up.

That's why I posted in the 93k Wii U thread that we'd need to see the other platforms since by comparison the Wii U still did horrible.

At a >2.4x weekly average increase in sales, this puts the $50 Wii U price cut as the best in recent memory in terms of a percentage increase in home console sales due to a price cut - even beating the PS3 Slim revision.

But at a ~19K units per week average, it still around the worst weekly average the $599 PS3 ever had.

Oh wow....It's just for the 3DS to go from 130K to at least ~170-190K seemed like a lot because it had no big games unless I'm forgetting something. When it did 130K last month, it at least had Dream Team.

Christmas will be intesting.

What about digital copies which aren't tracked? Just curious as I know it was available digitally day one on PS3, but it's not available on 360 digitally is it? Not sure how big of an impact that would have, as not sure how many people bought it digitally, but I would assume at least a decent amount.

Wait a moment:

http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10...-in-september?abthid=52606bf1fbafd77b1200001a

Wii U sales were also up in September a full 100 percent. "Wii U hardware sales benefitted from a price drop in September, and along with the new hardware bundle which included The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD," according to NPD.

Doesn't this imply Wii U sales would be double August 2013 (31K) sales? Why did IGN say Wii U sales were only up 100%?

This is probably just a typo, but I thought it was interesting.

I'd like to see actual week over week numbers. My guess is the sales were more or less non existent the first 3 weeks of the month. Next month will be pretty interesting. November moreso.

Man, if this is true, Killzone didn't really do much for the Vita.

Killzone is a franchise that when given a big marketing budget has struggled. Killzone: Mercenary did not receive any real marketing in North America, nor does it have a bundle available. Clearly SCEA has checked out with Vita.

Good chances are that the PS3 version is leading worldwide tho.

that average has been a consistent 7-8k a week for many months though, and there's no reason to expect the first few weeks of september for that average to have improved. to increase the average by the amount it did, post-drop numbers were comparatively massive.

that's assuming that all the incremental sales can be given directly to the price drop

Just like Prince Vultan seems to be invested one way, you seem to be invested in the complete opposite.
