The rise of digital would also help explain it, since NPD only tracks physical, correct?
Yes.

It says in the OP that retail sales for December are down YoY.I clarified a statement in the OP.
Retail sales for December are up 2% year over year, but the full year is down 2%.

If they don't include handhelds we have this:
XBO: 908.000
PS4: 680.000 - 908.000
360: 643.000
PS3: 0 - 643.000
270.000 to 1.141.000 left for Wii & Wii U. (well, big gap)
I'd like an update on total Minecraft retail + XBLA sales. It has to be one of the best selling 360 games of all time by now.
Dat Minecraft. #9 for the year in retail only, and it started as only available on XBLA. :lol
Wait until you see how much traction Microsoft have lost in tier two countries before you say that.Yeah, I know that. You know that. We all know that. But letting Microsoft have a victory in December in the biggest market in the world is very stupid IMO.
C'mon, I'm really hungry for WiiU numbers. :\
Here we goSo the over 3.0 million Xbox One units sold to customers was a lie...
This should surprise no one. The top 10 games have remained largely similar for years now.
Why? Do you have detailed sales figures for the other territories? So the over 3.0 million Xbox One units sold to customers was a lie...

Poor Gran Turismo 6. Didn't even chart lol.

so uh, one takeaway from NPD is that this was not the wii u's breakout christmas..
o okSony confirmed the PS4's US LTD > The One's US LTD.
Well damn, got to the bottom of the first page lol.

One game can change everything.Doesn't WiiU have to get a million a month between December and March to make Nintendo's goal of hitting 9 million?
How is that going?

The masses know what they're buying. Hell, COD Ghosts probably got the worst reception(critics and players) and its still #1. I think its time to accept that most people don't want their favorite franchises to change too much. Not everyone is a core gamer like most of Gaf.I'm not really a sales person, but even still, just goes to show you that you can just re-skin a game and the masses will still bite. Pretty damn sad.

exactly.
More people going digital this year over last means that retail is going to be down YOY even if total sales (digital plus physical) are up.
