Media Create Sales: Week 41, 2013 (Oct 07 - Oct 13)

Well of course - after all this is scenario of quietly discontinuing Wii U while saving everything that can be saved from costs sunken in software development.
You realise this scenario makes absolutely no sense? This is not the Wii situation where the platform was nearing its end of life cycle and most of main games are already released, the Wii U isn't even a year old yet, they're not just gonna drop support for it, whats the point of even having the console on retailer shelves at that point?

Why does it break your heart so much when PSP keeps selling? Is it not impressive that this hardware will have been tracked for TEN years, by the end of next year? Sales-wise and longevity-wise, it's right on the heels of PS2. That's not something that can be taken lightly. But year after year, you continue to proclaim "The PSP will soon be dead" for some inexplicable reason, and any time anyone takes you up on it, your only retort is "get over your middle age crisis" or "you'll learn the hard way". Come on, you've been playing the same record for almost two years and the PSP still isn't dead. Get over it :)

PSP # | 3.062 | 3.557 | 15.107 | 377.886

What games are gonna change that trend? The PSP is at the end of its life cycle.

MH4 is running out of stock again, new shipment around Oct 21. Sold out on Amazon, Bic Camera (online shops) and at most Yodobashi stores.

Black and White 3DS XL also short in supply.

Honestly I think the PSP as it is now is helping Vita more than hurting it as if PSP didn't exist stuff like Toukiden and God Eater 2 would have probably never even been made on that platform.

I was looking at the eshop rankings and wanted to post this piece of news:
Every single game released by Nintendo for the wiiu, be eshop-only or not, in Japan is in the top 20, with the exception of three: Luigy U (which was an add-on and don't count), Rayman (released yesterday) and... Wonderful 101.

The biggest shame is that Zelda didn't even sold that much and it's already on that top 20. Makes me cry.
Is it only possible to buy the add-on version for LuigiU on the eShop?

Double post. Everyone's too busy with NPD tonight. =P

First day sell-through was ~4%.

The blog adds: "it could be a new record for a game published by Nintendo."

Mother's milk in a cup... that's depressing. I had literally no hope the game would sell even 5k, but damn... No wonder it's a Wii U exclusive in Japan, nobody else wanted to publish that.

Ho ho ho. Now this is interesting. Looks like Nintendo got its new Animal Crossing for holidays.

And what, Monster Hunter 4 shortages again? The holiday season will be magical for Capcom. Good thing the release of Pokémon X and Y didn't really hurt MH4 legs.

Not as bad as before, the recent shipment was probably bigger than the ones we have seen before, so it lasted longer. Yodobashi was finally running out of stock (only 4 or 5 stores had the game), but now it seems they just got a new shipment, same for the White/Black 3DS XL.

3DS is set for a good weekend! :)

Wonder how much longer they can keep this up before investors start openly demanding they drop the money-losing turd.

Hopefully Nintendo keeps it up for 2014. The 3DS's performance this year was slightly disappointing to me compared to last year up until the MH4/PKM duo, so they can't afford to sit back and relax if they want the 3DS to be as successful as it can be. Tortoise and the Hare and all that.

Because it was on 3DS—2.3%

Strange. As of 2006 and according to the Media Create top 500, the first re-release sold 117,727.

You are right, they must include the first re-release into the first number and talk for the ultra cheap for the remaining.

2004 CY {2003.12.29 - 2005.01.02} 024. [PS2] Grand Theft Auto: Vice City <ACT> (Capcom) {2004.05.20} (¥7.140) - 419.980 / 419.980
2005 CY {2005.01.03 - 2006.01.01} 000. [PS2] Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (CapKore) <ACT> (Capcom) {2005.05.19} (¥3.990) - 78.666 / 78.666
2006 CY {2006.01.02 - 2006.12.31} 280. [PS2] Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (CapKore) <ACT> (Capcom) {2005.05.19} (¥3.990) - 39.061 / 117.727

Full price version sold a little more in 2005 (and maybe CapKore the same) to have the 568.000 total and the remaining 41.000 for the 609.000 come from these titles:

[PS2] Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Best Price!) <ACT> (Capcom) {2007.07.12} (¥2.090)
[PS2] Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (Rockstar Classics) <ACT> (Take-Two Interactive Japan) {2011.09.29} (¥1.800)

568k is for Vice City. 609k is for GTA4.

Is it normal for me to not give a fuck about Halloween but be incredibly excited for Iwata's earnings presentation?

Well, if we get European graphs, Wii U numbers will be pretty scary, it sounds like a good substitute.

We all know that amazon.jp charts are useless and Vita will probably go below 30k this week, but why are the new Vita models charting so high now? They are all between the 13 and the 22 position. I don't think they ever went that high before, except the day they were announced.

The power of a reskinned Fifa 11 game, I guess.

Hopefully with the holidays kicking in soon the Vita sells can keep up that sort of pace. Would be great to see!

More sales = more attention paid by developers = more games = more happy gamers = even more sales.

The great circle of " how to make your system relevant "

Sony really needs to just hand Capcom a cool 20m or so and get them to make the main MH series on the Vita. It really needs to happen. I mean really. That along with FFX HD and KH HD and the like? Could get good.

Yeah, it actually reminds me of how the 3DS LL models shot up the charts leading to MH4. I mean as you say, you can't read into the charts too much, but it does at least indicate a decent level of sustained interest in the models and so I wouldn't expect a sharp drop next week -- probably within the 30-40k range if I were to guess.

I noticed Amazon is running some Vita 2000 ads, I believe this is a new thing for them.

They also have a special product page for it: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/feature.html/?&docId=3077736256

It'd be more than 20m. You'd probably be looking at a good 500m+ considering Capcom would have to be supporting a weaker platform in terms of sales

Yeah and Nintendo needs to hand Rockstar a few bucks and a Zelda collector's item to get GTA5 exclusively. Seems plausible.
