Just Cause 3 |OT| Procedural Chaos

Picked this up last night. It's clearly unoptimized, but with an i7 4790k and a 980ti, I'm able to have it perfectly playable. With everything on, I can even get it up one res higher on the DSR scale and still keep a solid frame rate. The lighting still flickers, and the best antialiasing still causes ghosting. I've also have a few crashes already, which is unfortunate.

Regardless of all that, the game is a blast. Got it for $30 and I'm already having a ton of fun.

I need some assurance that the next patch will fix the save game issue.

Have devs mentioned when the next patch might be hitting? I don't see them participating on any forums anymore. Seems they went silent. I thought it was for the holiday but I thought by now they would be back in office. Haven't booted up the game again since last month.

I've bought the XL edition which of course includes the season pass for all upcoming DLC, and to my syrprise I checked the store today just to find out there is micro-trans items all over the place not covered by the season pass?

What kind of travesty is this?

Really? Thats crazy. I thought buyers of XL would end up getting all the future content free. I didn't realize that there were even items to buy on the store now. What are they selling?

Do I need to do any missions?

Or can I start the game and immediately do crazy stuff in the whole world.....

I did the first mission to get the wing suit, and have been on a flying and explosions spree ever since. Not sure if areas of the map are locked or not.

Finished the main story now (28hrs ish) and really can't be bothered to play anymore challenges are really not that fun. Kinda thought it was surprising you could call in vehicles in last fight (having a helicopter made it so much easier).

So think I'm done with this until the MP mod comes out then might give it a go again also depends what the DLC gives.

The vehicles look like the ones that were included in the Day 1 editions of the game. I'm guessing this is for late adopters. Dunno about the weapons.

I'm having a hard time thinking of what DLC Id even want to purchase for this game. Maybe a new landmass would be cool. Vehicles and weapons might be fun, but probably not enough to replay with.

I'm also regreting buying it. The game is fun but repetitive as fuck. Literally, something happens in the beggining that serves as an excuse to blow shit up. There you have the whole plot. Also the amount of asset recycling is unbelievable. The entire map looks the same, apart of the vulcano.

Bummer to hear, I'm actually still really early on in the game so I'm still finding fun in it. Also bought it for half price so there's not too much of a wallet burn. But I can see recycled assets and repetitive missions sinking in.

I have a feeling this game is gonna live or die by how much fun I can make for myself

Still on the fence about this game, i want a jump in/jump out action game i can play between witcher/fallout sessions. think this game could be that? Give me a kick of fun for 30 minutes to offset the serious tone of Witcher, or should I just grab Rebel Galaxy?

This is pretty much the exact purpose the game serves for me, and for that it's great.

It's repetitive but it's not AS bad as he states

How cheap can you get it? I actually bought it specifically to bounce between my witcher 3 file (come on fix my mods already!) and it's been pretty good. Gameplay is immediately gratifying, if mindless fun.

Right now i have $60 in steam credits, but i dont want to spend that much on the game, i figure its bound to drop to $40 at some point, that seems like a fair price, though 30 would be perfect.

I got it for 32$ in Buy/Sell/Trade - if you're willing to not use steam credit, you might check for a sale there. For thirty bucks it is looking pretty good, 4 hours in.

About five hours in now. Wing suit is still phenomenal. I went ahead and glided across the first main island to the big one up north, just because, and spent a good half hour just flying around the countryside.

Got the rocket remote charges and expected to have a ton of fun, only to be disappointed with how weak they were. Maybe I need the upgrade because almost nothing for launched.

WaterWorks still looks top notch.

Hearing the complaints from GB's Goty, are there any mods you guys would recommend for a first playthrough that streamline some of the challenge stuff?

Got to my first larger base liberation yesterday, think it was a port. I was actually relieved because liberating the towns has become stale, unless i come at it with a fresh idea that i bring myself. The port was really fun, and I liked calling in rebel boat reinforcements.

I also got to do an escort mission which I was apprehensive about, until I realized that my fav thing to do in JC is get on the roof of a car and shoot the tires of oncoming militant jeeps, watching them careen off the road from one well placed shot.

Shooting out tires is one of my favorite things to do in JC3. I can't recall if that even existed in JC2, but I don't remember doing that ever before JC3. Super satisfying.

It was great in 2 as well, yeah. In 3, I just jumped on a random car after that mission and stirred up a bit of heat - same thing happened with patrol cars charging at me. SMG and shotguns give me the best results.

Is anyone else finding this game too difficult? I just want to run around and blow shit up and have fun but in this game you get killed so fast. In JC2 I could set it to easy but there are no settings in this game, why did they do that?

Not sure. I was surprised at that as well. I figured I missed a setting for difficulty. It seems they want players to play a certain way such as constant moving. I believe they talked about it being on purpose that there was no crouch or sprint because of they play style they wanted to encourage. I think they said that at least.

You're going to want to move a lot instead of playing it like it was JC2 on easy. Some of the missions felt difficult to me though. Specifically when there were far too many enemies or really strong artillery.

I've cleared the first couple of islands in terms of missions/towns/bases and am now starting the huge main island. However, as fun as it is, I've begun to find the gameplay a little repetitive. Does anything change on the large island or is it more of the same?

It will be more of the same. The big island actually doesn't have a ton of places on it either. It has a lot of empty space without settlements. Some areas are exclusively military occupied and some are exclusively towns/villages. That is the only real difference.

Pretty much this. There are a couple of interesting civilian cities on the big island (I was a big fan of
the one on the edge of the giant cliff
), and there is one type of military area that you won't find on the other two islands, but otherwise, it is just more of the same, sadly, and a lot less densely packed.

Yeah, it's why I recommend switching things up for yourself as much as possible. Like JC2 it's easy to slip into just using what works best and making the game more boring for yourself.

in regards to difficulty, I've mostly only died due to my own negligence, like missing a grapple to escape, wing suiting into the ground or blowing myself up. The few times I died during a conflict it was usually the big guns - tanks or artillery. It's so easy to break line of sight with the grapple.

Haven't hit the big island but I am worried a bit. I found near endless fun in JC2 sandbox, so I'm hoping that I'll be able to make my own fun there.

Can anyone playing on Steam add me and send a Call Out challenge to try and beat? That's the last one I need to 100%.

Is the patch also available for PS4? This should be the patch in which they solve the FPS issues. Well, at least I hope so.

Yep, still fun. But is it just me or are there no gas-tank weakspots on vehicles anymore? I remember targetting those for blowing up cars & trucks but it seems like they take forever to blow up now with rifles.

Is it just me or is driving in JC3 nowhere near as fun as it was in 2? Maybe it's the handling of the airborne physics, but everything just feels stiff and unnatural. I spent so much time driving in 2, taking ramos and jumping cars off cliffs but not in this one

I pretty much dislike the driving all around. Very few of the vehicles feel okay to me
