okay awesome. so i looked around and is that Shinobi shinobi who they were talking to via polygon or a different shinobi here at gaf. lol
doubt ill make the registration for a while as it seems they will send it to their discord folks first and then slowly let people in after being vetted as a previous member of gaf or something.

Yeah I don't post much in halogaf but I loved reading this thread. I will be sticking around also. Hopefully some others do as well.

Nice I won't be completely alone. I just dont have the time or energy to worry about the morality of other people/companies. If we really want to be above every flawed person we might as well not even go to any websites or businesses at all. That and there is just no way to truly know for sure what did or didn't happen. I'm not sure the gaf community should be the ones that have to leave. Its a great community with a lesser number of bad eggs. Seems like abandoning ship is just a second form of punishment in light of everything else. So anyway whether it makes me a bad person or not I'll be around.
Well it's gonna be pretty empty here...

It happened before, like when HaloGAF became too cliquey during the "HGS" days. There was this exclusive mentality back then with several frequent posters. Sometimes resets are good to allow new blood to break into the mold.
And to draw a parallel, the same thing happened with Halo as 343 came into the mix. Without the Halo reset and 343 taking over, Bungie may have curbed the franchise or continued down an unfavorably path. At least with 343 it feels like they are more receptive to feedback and future changes than Bungie was.
Well you're right that HaloGAF probably isn't going anywhere, but when everyone leaves it's only really HaloGAF in name...
While I've been a gaffer for ages, I don't really feel a connection to this place. I also don't see a reason to leave, unless of course the activity drops significantly and/or posting habits go downhill. I'll be where ever there is the best gaming news/discussion and hopefully a solid halo community. Off topic would be nice too. Don't really want to be visiting multiple places.

Some would certainly argue that, lol.
That said, HaloGAF is/was a community, when the majority of that community leaves it's not really HaloGAF anymore...
And I'm not going to be here for long.

The question was to you. Would you say that Halo is only Halo in name because most of the people who made Halo Halo are no longer making Halo?
The argument can be made on both ends. And you're suggesting "majority" now, but we'll see if that holds true in time.
Also, to be clear I think it's fine people leave if that's what they believe is what's best for them. I'm simply saying that HaloGAF isn't going anywhere; it may evolve, but not disappear.

As for myself, I'm not leaving Gaf anytime soon, still keep a look around to see where the old community is moving, but it's not like HaloGaf was the only reason for me to come here (but still represent like 80 to 90% of my post history).
I'm sure at one point, people will be back here (while still holding a warrantable grief against NeoGaf owner). And if not, well, I can already feel the smell of junior members not aware about what happened here recently and still willing to discuss about some Halo stuff.

Well no, because Halo is a video game, it's not defined by the people who are developing it. HaloGAF is a community, it is quite literally defined by the people who make it up. There will most likely be a HaloGAF in the future, it'll be a completely different community though.
Also you're in the Discord, it's pretty obvious most people are leaving.

Right, so you agree with me then that it won't die and will still be HaloGAF. Just because it's different doesn't mean it'll be bad and won't be "HaloGAF," which is what seems to be you're implying. This place has changed before, and some would argue it's never been as good as their personal favorite era.
What HaloGAF is to you may not be what HaloGAF is to someone else, which is why it's weird to now say it won't be HaloGAF anymore. There have been different eras of HaloGAF, each with its own posters that may or may not stick around through it all.

Just because they are in the Discord doesn't mean they will never post in this thread, as is clear from several of us lol.
Art is created by people but it's a seperate entitiy, it's not made of the creator. It's possible to immitate art, as 343 have done to a degree, hence why I would still say 343's Halo is Halo.
A community of people is literally made of those people. If those people leave it's no longer the same community.
Also I wouldn't say I was implying it's a bad thing. I'm just saying that it's just not going to be HaloGAF anymore.

That's silly to say considering there was a point where you didn't exist on this forum, so what if the HaloGAF you're in now was never even HaloGAF anyway? I get the emotion behind what you're saying though, but that just brings me to my next point --

Went to Reset to see it with my own eye... Obviously it's a first impression, but even without an account, I can say I don't like the readability and the organisation/sub-thread mapper this forum is using.
Unless they really improve those parts (which I'm sure they will since they just launched it as quickly as they could), I won't even come back to see what's going on.

Let's be real - depending on where gaming info leaks first (most likely gaf) then we all will still stick it here until they shut this down.
