Has anyone ever had problems with a weed habit and been able to reduce their consumption down to moderate levels?
This last year, smoking ceased to be a luxury for me and gradually became an almost everyday thing. Unwisely used it as a crutch to deal with grief and some other issues, and from there it became an addiction. I learned how to be somewhat functional with it, but I realised recently that smoking a couple of grams every day is not sensible use.
The only action I can see that works is quitting outright. I did that for four weeks a while back and then let myself start up again, promising myself it'd be in moderation and infrequently, but a couple of weeks later I was back to my old ways.
So now I'm nearly at the end of my first week quitting again. I really do love being high when I do it right, it's a wonderful drug that can do some really great things for people, but I don't like feeling dependent or unable to control myself. I guess what I'm asking is, what are the ground rules people set themselves and how do you avoid breaking them?
I understand most people might not have this issue, I have an addictive personality by nature so I'm sure that's a big reason. But after I first tried weed I went years just enjoying it now and again, so if it's possible for me to get back to that I'd love to.
