Barbarian - excellent. 90% of the trailer is the first 30-40 minutes of the film, and it is really great at keeping you guessing where it’s going through the first two acts. Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, and Justin Long are all excellent in this, and the film does a great job establishing each character. And of course plenty of suspense and a massive moment where when you piece together what’s about to happen to an individual at one point your stomach is probably going to turn. Only weaknesses is while some of the “dumb” decisions actually are justified and/or fit with whichever character’s personality, there are a few inexcusable ones, also the most worthless cops even by horror standards (I get the film was making a point, but still), and the final act is good but not on par with the first 2/3. Still, the strengths far outweigh the weaknesses here
Pearl - fucking fantastic. Mia Goth kicks ass and she knows it in this half horror/character study prequel to X which came out earlier this year. What I truly loved is how this subverts the tired “everyone’s a shallow asshole to the eventual villain” trope (one of the many reasons I do not like Zombie’s Halloween), as her sister-in-law is genuinely sweet, the guy at the theater ultimately comes off as he may have not been that bad a guy, and even her mother is arguably morally justified in her behavior once she lays out everything she knows. And just like X did a great job emulating the visual style of certain films from the 70’s, this film also does the same with the Technicolor era of cinema.
But seriously, Mia Goth better get all the award nominations (and possibly some wins). Without saying what she says, in the final act there is a six minute monologue with the camera focused on her with no cuts where she acts the hell out of it (of course, she’s solid the whole film). Everyone in my theater clapped at the end of it, because goddamn, take a fucking bow, queen.

Saw this movie today in a dolby atmos theatre. It was a really fun watch.
Ofc its not the best movie but there are a lot of things right with it that it is never a bad time.
Visuals editing and directing are fantastic. Olivia wilde is really becoming a good director.
Some of the acting is great as well. Pugh repeats a very similar performance -and role- to her midsommer character. Chris pine is good as well.
Harry styles can not keep up with the cast but i mean who was waiting for him to do so?
That %35 RT score insanely unfair and really put the reviewers integrity in jepordy. This movie deserved much more.

So this is a triangle love story featuring clowns. It was pretty fucked up, left me frustrated at times and there are plot holes especially towards the end, but it has some amazing scenes and overall I liked it.

Hellraiser Bloodlines
I was obsessed with Hellraiser in my mid to late teens. I read Clive Barkers The Hellbound Heart and watched all the movies rigorously. At least up until Bloodlines. Because it was here the franchise went to hell and after Inferno I just gave up. The original trilogy is where the heart of the movies lies. So in preparation for the new Hellraiser that arrived on Hulu (like fuck you for having it exclusively on Hulu, another reason the future of streaming fucking sucks the big one) I went to see all four movies again. And instead of doing it chronological, I went backwards.
Bloodlines is a painful watch, mostly because the premise has so much potential, harkening back to the Lemarchand storyline that Barker once conceived. The movie features the origins of the box, and you can tell the story had grand ambitions with multiple characters playing different versions of themselves and their ancestors, with a storyline that spans across thousands of years.
But they scaled it back significantly and the end result is pathetic. Low budget, lousy effects, tepid acting and writing. Simply put, it's an incoherent mess. You can already tell the movie is gonna be a turd right in the opening credits, because the movies director is none other than the famous Alan Smithee. This is a pseudonym for directors that disowns their movies for not having creative control.
From what I learned Bloodlines had a troubled production and as usual the suits at Miramax fucked up the original vision and withheld funding, instead opting to save money and cut corners, thus we're stuck with this garbage of a movie.
Luckily, Clive Barker went on to greater heights, directing the phenomenal horror show piece, Lords of Illusions, while leaving his most famous creation to the vultures of Hollywood, stripping the franchise down to its very bones.

Just saw The Lost Daughter
It was surprisingly good. Didn't expect much as my hubby just found it randomly scrolling on Netflix a Sunday night
Turned out this film was really gripping. At the very start, you could really feel the release and excitement and then suddenly you just feel something is not right and that feeling escalating

The Unbearable weight of Massive talent
I'm a huge Nicolas Cage fan, I've seen almost all of his movies, even the shitty direct to dvd he did when his career was on the back burner. When I saw the trailer for this film I was instantly hyped because it looked like a lot of fun, but also a kinda of return to form for Cage. I was a bit concerned that it would be a self indulgent vanity project but it's a really funny and clever meta movie, who stars Nicolas Cage in a sort of twisted parody of himself and his struggles as a dying star. The movie then evolves to a spy pic and ends as a full blown action movie. Pedro Pascal does a great supporting role and steals the show several times. One of the best movies with Nicolas Cage in a long time. It also features a lot of references to his past movies. Highly recommend.

How was the Weird Al movie? I though it looked good but I don't have a Roku
I really enjoyed The Northman when it was in theaters and I finally got around to watching The Witch. I gotta say, I really like Robert Eggers' style, I'm not even into horror movies but, there's something really gripping about his. Next up is The Lighthouse.

Good movie, but copies way too much from the source tales. Robert Eggers says he was "inspired" by the Smalls Lighthouse Tragedy, but watching the film it's obviously a straight adaptation. Same with another title called "The Vanishing" as mentioned above, detailing the disappearance of Flannan Isles Lighthouse crew.

The Green Mile: A+
Fantastic film. Long being around 3 hours but it went by fast. I have to read the book.
I really enjoyed the unique animation style and storyline. The mature and busy setting definitely helps to bring out the overall vibe of the film and has a lot going on and a lot to look at. Kind of reminds me of Encanto during the song where Mirabel introduces her family and their gifts to the kids. Just so much going on with the fast pacing gives off an energetic feel to it.

Very fun movie and David Harbour is superb as he usually is. I can see this becoming a movie I watch every year like many other of my Christmas favourites. Just hit me right and felt like an instant classic as I watching it.

Probably my favourite Guy Ritchie film. Love the pacing, cast rules, and just very rewatchable. It's quite close between this film and Snatch but there's just something that keeps me coming back to Lock, Stock time and time again.

I was scrolling through Prime and for some reason I clicked on The Rocky Horror Show. I figured I'd probably watch up until that Time Warp song then switch off, but I got swept up in it and watched the whole thing. The film's fun as fuck and the songs are killer. It's definitely stood the test of time.

Man, pretty sure I posted this before.
Local cinema was famous for running it since it was released. Was bonkers. In the most brilliant way.
Beer down your pants, random people cosplaying in front of the screen. Toast being thrown around, crazy crowd but impossible not to laugh.
Then Brad and Janets wedding, you had rice thrown in your face. Was all in good fun but wild.
