iOS has built in ad blocking ability! It does suck on Android. Lots of things run slower because of Chrome.
Good point to rooting for ad blocking. Seems worthwhile.
Samsung Browser (available to all Android devices) supports extensions and there is an ad blocking extensions.
As for blocking ads in apps, meh. I'm a developer and would rather not do that. If the app has a particularly invasive implementation of ads, then I don't use it.
I stopped rooting once tethering was supported by all carriers. Though Xposed is something I do miss sometimes.

They can be blocked with Adguard. Free for every browser and Premium also blocks in-app ads.
Premium Version is pretty cheap if you pay in russian rubles :3

I trust a Russian app that creates a VPN on my phone about as far as I can throw it. You can use Android Putin if you want.

Maybe I've never noticed before but does anyone have an issue with chrome and their gs8 where there is a black gap between the notifications and the top of chrome?
Yeah, Chrome isn't compatible with the screen ratio of the GS8 as of yet
Edit: I don't have that problem on my S8+ though 🤔
make sure to click the 'force expand' button when you multitask to force it fullscreen.

Hmm I did some digging in the display settings and some of my apps weren't toggled to under "full screen apps"...which I have no idea how that happened but all is fixed now

I had one. Great phone, but no notification light. That's a must for me so I sold it.
Works fine. It just has to be checked off in Display setting -> Fullscreen apps.

I'm actually really liking the sound out of the Jaybird X3's. Bluetooth really has come a long way from even a few years ago. I mean they're not as good as my wired Philips Fidelio X1's but I went in not expecting anything remotely close and they are a lot closer than I would have ever expected. They're actually more than plenty enjoyable for everyday listening as opposed to just working out as they are intended to used.
The 8 hours rated battery life actually seems like a semi-honest claim. I really think they can get pretty close to that rating from the way I've seen the battery drain so far while listening to them.
As far as wireless earbuds which are connected by a wire go, they seem pretty well-thought out in terms of what you do with the wire that connects the two buds. They come with some clips which you use to shorten the wire until the wire runs directly and snugly behind your head, which prevents the wire from jostling them out of your ears while you're working out.
The buds are fine to listen to except for one random aggravating flaw: When you turn them on, a voice screams in your ears "POWER ON - CONNECTED TO PHONE- xx% REMAINING" and then plays a short stock music sample at like 1,673 dB. Whoever made this voice prompt that fucking loud needs to be dragged out into the street and beaten until they are unconscious. I literally can't put the buds in until after I've powered them on because of this. You cannot control the volume of the power on voice prompt for reasons I cannot fathom. What the hell, Jaybird?
Overall, I think these headphones are pretty great. For the sale price of $100 they seem like a very good value. I'm not going to throw away my Fidelio X1's anytime soon but the world of wireless headphones has certainly advanced a lot in the past few years.

Depends on your budget and what you're looking for mostly.
you generally can't go wrong with any not HTC/LG top end phones. SD820 is good. SD835 is good.
no real reason for you to update if battery and performance isn't an issue for you.

Wait, why does Netflix or any other service has to update for each device individually? If they update the content they provide to a HDR spec, shouldn't that work with every device rather than providing support for each device individually?

Lol, so true. The Freedom do the same and while it's nice to get a voice prompt and battery percentage (I hate having to guess) why the music sample and why so fucking loud.
The volume settings on the buds themselves is also:

Sure, I can tweak it with my phone audio settings, but when I'm connected to a car I want that to be max because some podcasts are too quiet otherwise so I have to keep fishing for my phone. Why can't the volume settings be linear instead of that one big bump? I can barely notice it when I push audio above that one bump.
