PSA: The 3DS eshop closes down for good in less than two weeks!

If there's anyone who still plays their 3DS, and you haven't gotten everything you want from the eshop, now's the time. I think it closes its doors for good on March 27, 2023.

I've been on the fence forever about Fire Emblem: Shadow of Velencia DLC content, but I bought it today, along with the Langrisser game. Post here if any of you guys plan on picking anything up.

Does anyone have any good articles/videos I could reference on good stuff? A few months ago I went on a buying spree for 3DS but would like to get one more shot to make sure I don't miss anything obvious.

Quick question, anybody have a list of games that shipped with DLC code or anything like that? I've built up quite the library of 3ds games in my backlog and would hate to find out that one of them had stuff I could have downloaded but it's too late now.

Got the 3ds ace attorney games that haven’t been ported yet last year. Knowing my luck, once I get around to playing them, Capcom will release a collection on modern platforms.
just be aware some of them require you to have played a bit before you can purchase the DLCs

keep in mind some DLC you can’t even purchase unless you’ve reached a certain point in the game, progression locked purchase of DLC is so dumb 😑

I think Nintendo is also the only one with a 250€ spending limit per 24 hour. :messenger_winking_tongue:

It's especially bothersome now when there's loads of stuff I might still wanna buy...

Cancer the womens baby so we can pregnant the panda, we are looking for igloos tonight Are you sexy?
Better get that Mega Man gameboy 1-5 now before you never see them again officially since Capcom refuses to release them regularly even on digital stores or in a collection.

At this point I just need to check what 3DS DLC I need. I'm all caught up with the Wii U and managed to grab the 3DS games I needed thanks to recent sales. I don't have the energy or money to go though the Japanese eshop though. Would have been nice to get the 3D version of Final Fantasy 1.

Also Sungrand released a few more Silver Falls games for the 3DS and Wii U over the last few weeks if anybody wants to check those out.

I was surprised how much free shit I've been able to download in various games that I didn't even know existed until I checked. Culdcept Revolt, SMT IV & Apocalypse, SMT Devil Survivor 2 etc.

Let's not forget that the Wii U eshop is closing down at the same time, which...is probably the real tragedy. It's the last place where you can legally buy virtual console games for many titles, and it had a fairly good library of not only NES, SNES, and GBA games, but also Wii and DS games which are not likely to come to Nintendo's shitty Switch online service where you can't even buy the games, but have to go in on a stupid subscription service where they can remove games whenever they like, and you have no ownership.

I hate subscription services.

Wish they'd do a going away sale. I heard there was a decent sale recently but I missed it, if they did another sale I'd buy stuff...

So do I need to get everything downloaded in order to not lose them? Or can I still go in and download? Wii U is the one console I never expanded memory for so honestly I am unsure what to expect.

All my memory is ate up by Xenoblade Chronicles X.

I'm honestly not sure, they might leave the ability to download what you own up and running...hell i think people can still download their wiiware games, so i would hope things you buy can still be downloaded once the store is closed.

Alright grabbed the 3D version of Final Fantasy from the JP eshop and most of the dlc I wanted. Just need some SMTIV stuff and some songs from Theaterhythm Curtain Call.

You can download games you purchased for the forseeable future after the Eshop "closes down." Unfortunately, I believe that like the 3DS, you can't purchase games if you don't have space immediately available to download it, so you may need to delete Xenoblade Chronicles X in order to buy other games.

There should be a law that these shops should always be up and available at least for as long Nintendo or other relevant corporations exist. It doesn’t cost anything to keep an old store up and probably they’ll even get some tiny profits from it still.

There is absolutely no reason why you would have to take down an e shop and make it impossible for people that have a 3DS to buy games. They want to actually buy games and DLC and you big corpos are forcing them to pirate. And then you start law suits and all that people pirate your shit even though they can not get anything legally.

It's quite eye-opening how many exclusive games there are for the 3DS after going through several eShop closing videos.

I was also made aware of a lot DSi ware games.

Hope I manage to buy them before they're gone for good. :messenger_winking_tongue:

The only games left on it I want are Planet Robobot, Bowser's Inside Story, and Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I'm not spending 120 bucks on those games. It's fuckin ridiculous that Nintendo wouldn't have a good sell on first party stuff before closing it down. Ridiculous.

Nintendo taking a big fat dump on their own history. It’s not like 3DS emulation on the Switch is happening anytime soon, so this is the only way to legally play these games unless you want to mess around with the physical second hand market.

That's because it was the last proper, dedicated handheld system. Vita started receiving home console/PC ports that were not optimized for handheld display (with tiny text, tiny hud and often quite a bit of blur) and Switch is even worse in that regard.

I was playing Persona Q a few minutes ago. A fully optimized game for the low resolution with big text, easily readable menu, using both screen, the stylus, turn-based, excellent for on-the-go gaming sessions. Well, we got the DS and the 3DS with a ton of great games and RPGs, everything comes to an end I guess. Anything Switch Lite feels like I am looking at a big TV game on a tiny screen. I can't stand this.

That Dragon Quest VII DLC is some BS. Could I download a completed save download the DLC and then enjoy the extra content later on when I find time to play the game?
